A dark magenta colour here, with a nose giving us notes of spices, black cherries, dried herbs, blackberries, cold tea and licorice. There is depth and concentration here, along with serious intensity which rides the journey for the full length. Attractive now but expect improvement over the next few years and then a wine which provides pleasure for the following ten to twelve years.

It was an interesting exercise to taste this alongside the Tin Lids Aria Secca Shiraz with the former showing more vibrance and appeal than this rock-solid example of a Shiraz Cabernet blend.
The oak shows its hand here. More subdued with a furrowed brow, this is a wine that takes its time to show its best self so a decant is certainly on the cards. Pretty scents of dried red petals make an early statement with plummy fruit, red currants, black cherries, baked strawberries and a little Cherry Ripe goodness. Woodsy spices and dabbles of earthiness move into the frame late with some cedar and clove not far from the action. This is a wine that would be comfortable on the table beside a Sunday roast beef.
